Interview: Coshocton Public Library

Right now for the project I am gathering information about what different organizations in my area like in a youth volunteer. Today I interviewed a youth volunteer organizer at the Coshocton Public Library:

What qualities do you look for in a youth volunteer?
The Library looks for youth who are open to learning new things. Have an interest in the library and in what they do. Think of their volunteering as a job, they understand their responsibilities and follow through with tasks. The Library also looks for young people who are self motivated and focused.

What activities do youth volunteers currently do for the Library?
Youth volunteers help with specific programs put on by the library. They assist in shelving books and cleaning audio/visual equipment. They assist in the development of programs. And they help with indexing.

How many youth volunteers do you have?
Currently there are five youth volunteers.

What activities would you like to see youth volunteers doing in the future?
Activities for volunteers depends greatly on the theme of the season, what each department needs, and what the youth are interested in helping with. Because of those factors it is difficult to know what volunteers could do in the future.

Thank you Coshocton Public Library!
