Nation Honors Society

An idea for volunteering in your community from one of my fellow Nation Honors Society members:

"Almost everyone has an elderly neighbor, friend or someone who is elderly in your family. . Whether it is doing "fix-it" jobs, scooping snow, raking leaves, mowing, weeding, or even just spending some time and singing at a nursing home, you could really cheer up someone else's life, which I think is really important."

Helping the elderly in your neighborhood or community is a great way to not only get volunteer hours but to make a positive impact on someone's life. I volunteered at one of the local nursing homes in my area for almost three years and greatly enjoyed spending time with the people. Whether it was making crafts, leading songs or games, decorating the hallways for holidays, or just listening to their stories, helping the elderly was always a wonderful experience.
