Youth Volunteers in Action Project

Welcome to the Youth Volunteers in Action Project! Here is an overview of the project:

What is the issue the project addresses?
There are two main issues this project addresses. The first one is the young people in my community need to learn to be leaders, presenting themselves and their ideas.  They also need to experience work skills, which will help them with future employment. There are not enough chances for them to experience this because of lack of jobs and volunteer opportunities.
The second issue is the organizations that allow volunteers do not usually take on youth as volunteers because of past experiences. This affects the first issue by creating a lack of opportunities for youth.

Why is this project important?
I believe this project is important because there are a lot of organizations in my area that could use volunteers, and a lot of youth that would be able and willing to do it. Both the youth and the organizations could benefit greatly from the experience. The only problem is that the organizations are not always willing to take on volunteers, and the youth do not know how to be leaders and present themselves to the organizations. It is very important that young people know how to be leaders, because the young people today are our future.
What will this project do for the community?
This project will create many opportunities for young people to learn to be leaders which will benefit them in the future. It will demonstrate the capabilities of the youth to local organizations and to the community. And it will connect young people with organizations that need volunteers and let them use their skills to help others and learn from experience.

The project plan:

The first step has three parts to it. First businesses and organizations will be asked what they would like in a volunteer.  Then how many businesses and organizations use youth volunteers will be assessed. Finally, there will be a presentation for the businesses and organizations that promotes using youth volunteers.
The second step is to gather youth in my community and give a session on volunteer leadership skills.

The third step is to set up a volunteer fair to connect the youth in my community and organizations that use volunteers. The youth leaders will invite the youth groups and organizations to the fair. The volunteer organizations will be able to see the capabilities of the youth, and the youth will be able to discuss volunteering and project ideas with the organizations.
